Collection: Jade Jewelry

Brother Ryan Shop is home to one of the largest collections of authentic Burmese jade jewelry in the United States — bangles, rings, bracelets, pendants and necklaces, and earrings, all cut from natural jadeite sourced directly from Burma. Every piece is one of a kind, hand-selected for quality, and verified live before it ships.

What Counts as Real Jade

“Jade” is two different minerals. Jadeite is the rarer, denser, and more valuable of the two — the stone behind imperial green and the material used in fine jade jewelry. Nephrite is softer and more common, usually seen in creamy whites and spinach greens. Nearly all gem-quality jadeite on earth comes from a single region of northern Myanmar, and that is the jade you will find throughout this collection.

Type A, and Why It Matters

The most important thing to understand before buying jade jewelry is treatment grade:

  • Type A — natural, untreated jadeite with only a traditional wax polish. Colour and structure are entirely natural, and it holds its value for generations. Everything at BRS is Type A.
  • Type B — acid-bleached and injected with polymer resin. Looks bright at first, then yellows and clouds over time.
  • Type C — dyed to fake a richer colour. The dye fades and leaches with wear.

If jade jewelry is priced far below the market and the colour looks suspiciously perfect and even, it is almost always Type B or C. We deal only in natural, untreated stone.

Colours of Natural Jadeite

Because each piece is cut from unique rough, no two are identical. You will find imperial and apple greens, icy translucent white, naturally rare lavender, warm honey and yellow, and dramatic moss, grey, and black. That variation from piece to piece is the signature of genuine, untreated stone.

Caring for Jade Jewelry

Jadeite is tough but not unbreakable — it will chip against stone or tile, so remove pieces before heavy work or sport. Clean with warm water and a soft cloth, and keep jade away from ultrasonic cleaners, bleach, and household chemicals. Natural Type A jade needs no special treatment and often takes on a deeper glow with years of wear.
